History

Women’s Service League was organized in January 1983 as a philanthropic organization. Its original goal was to promote the betterment of Sedalia and Pettis County through a variety of charitable projects. This goal stands today as the central premise of WSL. To that end, WSL annually raises monies to aid both individuals and groups whose circumstances require assistance. WSL members assist both financially and through “hands-on” projects. In 2009 WSL initiated the W.O.R.T.H.Y (Women, Organized and Resourceful, Together Helping Youth) committee which was created to identify areas where our funds could have an impact on the greatest number of children over a long period of time. While women and children remain the focus of Women’s Service League today, as in the past, the further goal of WSL is to cultivate friendships and to unite women of the community who desire to participate in philanthropic projects for the benefit of those in need.
